General Questions
AAS-in-Asia 2026 is primarily an in-person event. However, to encourage participation across geographies, if one or two session participants are unable to travel due to valid reasons (such as visa delays or unforeseen restrictions), we will make arrangements for them to participate virtually.
The Association for Asian Studies and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) strive to provide a safe and welcoming conference environment free from bias and intimidation for all participants. The partners have zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination and all forms of harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment. No form of discriminatory or harassing conduct by or towards any employee, member, vendor, or other person will be tolerated. Anyone who engages in prohibited discrimination or harassment will be subject to discipline, up to and including expulsion from the conference site and revocation of membership in the association and expulsion from the conference premises.
Proposals must demonstrate diversity in gender, institutional affiliation, geography, and career stage. Panels lacking diversity may be returned for revision.
The program committee schedules all sessions. Requests for specific time slots cannot be guaranteed.
Yes. Institutions or organizations may sponsor sessions, subject to approval. Please contact aasinasia2026@lums.edu.pk for details.
Yes. Reduced fees apply for students and scholars from designated low- and middle-income countries.

All proposals must be submitted online via the conference website.
Yes. Please provide accurate names and email addresses for all co-presenters, chairs, and discussants.
All meeting rooms will be equipped with an A/V package which includes LCD projector, screen, and sound speaker (for PowerPoint presentations). Participants are requested to bring their own laptops computers. Computers will not be provided for presentations
Participants using Macintosh computers are requested to bring their own thunderbolt to connect to HDMI cable converter to connect to the projector screen.
The conference organizers WILL NOT PROVIDE TV/DVD equipment, overhead projectors, slide projectors, or any other equipment or supplies required for presentations.
Chairs manage session time and introduce speakers. Discussants provide critical commentary and facilitate discussion.

Yes, until the submission deadline. After that, changes are not permitted except for corrections requested by organizers.

Submissions are evaluated based on clarity, originality, contribution to the field, and alignment with the conference theme and diversity policy.
Travel and Visa
Most international participants will need a visa. Please check the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for requirements specific to your country.
Discounted rates at partner hotels near the LUMS campus will be offered to participants. Details will be available closer to the conference dates.
Yes. Invitation letters will be issued upon request after your registration and payment are confirmed.
The nearest airport is Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE) in Lahore, located about 20-30 minutes from the LUMS campus.
Yes. Shuttle services and transport options will be announced closer to the event.
